The CompactLogix modular controller with part number 1769-L32E is a Programmable automation controller (PAC) manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The controller is commonly used in machine control and medium process applications. The controller has an integrated RS232 and an Ethernet communication port.

The default configuration of the RS232 interface is DF1 full duplex, 19.2 Kbps, no parity, station address 0, no handshake, BCC error detection, automatic detection of embedded response, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit. This default configuration can be manually configured to establish initial communication with the device. If used with RSLinx-, autoconfiguration can be used to automatically detect communication Settings. The RS232 port can also be configured as an ASCII protocol interface to connect barcode instruments, which are commonly used in manufacturing processes.

The 1769-L32E processor can fit up to sixteen (16) compact I/O modules. It also supports extensions by adding up to three (3) /O extension libraries. The controller has an integrated memory of 750 kilobytes and can be coupled to non-volatile memory by installing a 1784-CF64 or 1784-CF128 CompactFlash card. The controller uses 1769-BA to reserve user memory. Avoid full battery discharge, as this may wipe out user memory, including user programs. Use non-volatile memory to prevent such events.
