The Control Unit (also known as the controller) coordinates all operations of the CPU. It is responsible for reading instructions from memory, decoding instructions, and controlling the flow of executing instructions. The control unit issues instructions that tell other components how to operate.

The Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) is responsible for performing the arithmetic and logic operations of the CPU. This includes operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, displacement, and, or, and not.

Registers: High-speed memory inside the CPU that stores temporary results of instructions and data. A register is the fastest storage unit in the CPU, which is used to store information such as intermediate results of operations, data addresses and instruction addresses.

Cache: The cache memory inside the CPU is used to store recently accessed instructions and data to speed up the CPU’s access to them. Caching can significantly improve CPU performance.
Bus Interface Unit (BIU) : Handles data exchange and communication between the CPU and main memory and other peripherals. It is responsible for transferring data and instructions between the CPU and other components.

Floating Point Unit (FPU) : It is responsible for performing floating-point operations, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimal numbers in scientific notation.
