With eight analog inputs/outputs, National Instruments’ PCI-7831R is a reconfigurable I/O device in the R series. This model is equipped with a powerful Virtex-II 1M Gate class FPGA. In addition, the model has 96 digital lines. With this device, users can configure any digital I/O line for custom logic, input/output, or counters. The PCI-7831R is equipped with eight independent 16-bit analog input channels with a data transfer rate of 200ks/s. Eight independent 16-bit analog output channels with a data transfer rate of 1 millisecond per second.

The device uses NI-RIO driver software, compatible with LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA module, LabVIEW real-time module and other software packages/application development environment. The FPgas included in the model can be fully programmed with National Instruments’ LabVIEW FPGA module without the intervention of a professional. The NI PCI-7831R also offers low-cost signal conditioning and I/O expansion for direct connection to NI 9151 devices.

This reconfigurable I/O device provides complete control over the timing and synchronization of all operations and signals. The digital lines integrated in this device can be used not only for general operation, but also for pulse width modulation and handling specialized communication protocols. The NI PCI 7831R can be used with any Windows-based personal computer because it is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, and several other Windows operating systems.
